Alex Fine, the 32-year-old actor married to Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, is in the spotlight as he stands by his wife during the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Fine and Ventura got married in 2019, less than a year after Ventura confirmed her split with Combs.
Now, Combs stands trial on a series of sex crimes-related charges. He was indicted in September, months after Ventura filed a lawsuit alleging he abused her — sexually and physically — during their relationship. They promptly settled the lawsuit, but it sparked off a series of similar accusations against Combs.
Ventura began testifying on the second day of the trial on Tuesday, May 13, giving graphic descriptions of Combs’ alleged abuse, which included recording her as she had sex with other men, urinating on her and forcing her to have sex even when she was uncomfortable, on her period or sick.
Fine was present in the courtroom all of Tuesday, listening to her recount the alleged abuse.
On Wednesday, he appeared in court as Ventura went through cross-examination from Combs’ defense team.
As her cross-examination entered its second day, Fine had to leave the courtroom for a portion of Ventura’s testimony.
He was following the judge’s order that barred him from that portion of the testimony due to a potential conflict of interest if he later takes the stand. It’s unclear whether Fine will ultimately testify.
The portion of the testimony he couldn’t attend pertains to Ventura’s accusation Combs raped her in 2018. Ventura and Fine had already met at that point.
Ventura told the jury earlier this week that she met up with Combs around the fall of 2018, hoping to end their relationship. But she alleges he followed her into her living room and raped her on the floor. She said she engaged in consensual sex with him one more time after that.
Fine has been praised by fans who say he is a devoted spouse standing by his wife as she relives the graphic nature of her alleged abuse by Combs.
