An Alaska doctor previously named to the state’s medical board was found dead in his burned-down home just days after he was charged with possessing child sex abuse material.
Alaska State Troopers said in a press release that they responded to a house fire in Wasilla on Dec. 13. The home was completely engulfed in flames when first responders arrived.
Initially, troopers said Ryan McDonough, 46, who lived at the home, was missing but that the other residents were safe. In an update, however, it was determined that McDonough’s remains were found in the home.
Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
On Dec. 11, two days before the fire, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation said that McDonough had been arrested as part of a child sex abuse material investigation.
McDonough was charged with 10 counts of possession of child sex abuse material, according to the agency.
