Prosecutors began their closing arguments in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal trial by arguing the music mogul was the leader of a criminal racket.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik began addressing the jury on Thursday, June 26, claiming that Combs is the “leader of a criminal enterprise” and a man who “doesn’t take no for an answer.”
“The defendant used power, violence and fear to get what he wanted,” Slavik said.
Slavik then described two different violent assaults she said were perpetrated by the Bad Boy Records founder. One was the infamous 2016 hotel assault of Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, while the other was a violent altercation that left another girlfriend, who testified under the name “Jane,” with welts.
Shortly afterward, Jane said, Combs forced her to perform oral sex on a male escort despite repeated protests, according to Slavik.
The prosecutor also outlined what the racketeering charge Combs is facing is.
“The concept is simple,” she told the court. “The law recognizes that when someone commits a crime as part of a group — what the law calls an ‘enterprise’ — they’re more powerful and more dangerous.”
“It’s his kingdom,” Slavik continued. “Everyone was there to serve him.”

In addition to racketeering, Combs is charged with sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty.
Following closing arguments, which are expected to last through Friday, the jury will deliberate on Combs’ fate.
If found guilty on the sex trafficking or racketeering charge, Combs could spend the rest of his life in prison.
