- CSI: Miami star Eva LaRue and her daughter, Kaya, were the victim of a stalker over the course of 12 years
- The stalker sent dozens of threatening letters, saying he would rape and kill both LaRue and Kaya
- The harrowing experience is the focus of a new Paramount+ docuseries, My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story
Despite being at the “pinnacle” of her acting career, CSI: Miami star Eva LaRue’s life was turned upside down when she received a disturbing note.
The note, which arrived in 2007 with the signature of “Freddie Krueger,” turned into dozens more over the next several years that repeatedly threatened to rape and kill both LaRue and her daughter, Kaya Callahan.
It all came to a head in 2019, when the still-anonymous stalker called Kaya’s high school and pretended to be her father while talking to school employees.
LaRue’s harrowing 12-year experience is the focus of a new documentary series, My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story, which will be streaming on Paramount+ on Nov. 13.
LaRue and Kaya are both interviewed in the upcoming series and PEOPLE has the exclusive first look at the trailer.
“Those words and those threats were absolute psychological terrorism,” LaRue says in the trailer.
The two-part series delves into LaRue’s exhaustive efforts to protect Kaya and the FBI’s hunt for the stalker whose threats left a mother and daughter with lasting psychological trauma.
For years local and federal investigators were stumped by who had sent the letters and were unable to prevent the onslaught of threats for more than a decade.
In 2015, the Department of Justice said, the stalker sent a letter addressed to Kaya, saying, “I am the man who has been stalking for the last 7 years.”
“Now I have my eye on you too,” the disturbing note continued.
When the stalker called Kaya’s school in 2019, he asked if she was present that day and later left voicemails threatening to “rape her, molest her, and kill her,” again using the Freddie Krueger moniker.
According to federal court records, authorities eventually apprehended a suspect, a 58-year-old Ohio man named James David Rogers.
Rogers pleaded guilty in 2022 to two counts of mailing threatening communications, one count of threats by interstate communications and two counts of stalking.

The Department of Justice said Rogers sent a total of 37 threatening handwritten and typed letters between 2007 and 2015. He was sentenced to 40 months in prison and released in 2024.
LaRue is known for her roles on All My Children and CSI: Miami. In 2020, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for The Young and the Restless.
From 1996 to 2005, LaRue was married to her All My Children co-star John Callahan, who died in 2020. Together, they had Kaya in 2001.
