NEED TO KNOW

  • A 31-year-old mother of three was fatally stabbed inside her family’s home on Nov. 25, according to Harrisburg Police
  • Police say Violette Pierre was stabbed to death by her romantic partner Rocheny Clerge, who was also found with a stab wound to his own neck
  • Pierre’s 13-year-old son reportedly found the bodies lying bleeding on the family’s bathroom floor when he came home from school

Police in Harrisburg, Pa., are sharing more details this week about a mother of three who was fatally stabbed at the family’s home last month.

Violette Pierre, 31, was found dead around noon on Nov. 25. Her 13-year-old son came home from school and told police he discovered both his mother and a man he described as his stepfather lying on the bathroom floor, bleeding, according to local CBS 21, WGAL, and local Fox 43. Citing court documents, the outlets reported that the boy “frantically” ran out of the house and down the street, where he alerted neighbors about his mother appearing to be stabbed to death.

The Harrisburg Bureau of Police said in a news release this week that its officers responded to the home shortly after and found Pierre dead — and the man she was in a relationship with lying bleeding on top of her with a deep cut in his neck.

“The male, later identified as Rocheny Clerge, was still alive and life-saving measures were performed by officers,” police said. “Clerge was rushed to a local hospital for advanced medical care, and an investigation was initiated.”

While Clerge remained in the hospital, investigators learned that he had allegedly stabbed Pierre before turning the knife on himself, cutting his own throat and falling on top of the woman he had just stabbed.

“Clerge has subsequently been charged with Murder and Possession of an Instrument of a Crime,” police said on Wednesday.

According to WGAL, court documents say a knife was found next to the bleeding couple inside the family’s bathroom, which investigators believe was the murder weapon Clerge allegedly used to stab Pierre.

Investigators later caught up with the 13-year-old boy, who had continued to run away after telling neighbors what he discovered upon coming home from school, according to Fox 43. The outlet reported that police say the boy allegedly told investigators his mother and the man “fight all the time” and that the couple was fighting before he left home for school that morning. Pierre had also allegedly threatened to leave Clerge during a fight the night before her death, the boy reportedly told police.

Home security footage reportedly shows the 13-year-old leaving for school around 8:30 a.m. local time, according to WGAL, while his uncle took his two younger siblings off to their school shortly afterwards. Fox 43 reported that the uncle also allegedly told police that Pierre and Clerge had been fighting when he left the family’s home with Pierre’s two youngest children.

Video from the family’s home later shows the boy “frantically” rushing out of the house moments after arriving home from school, according to Fox 43.

Dauphin County Jail records reviewed by PEOPLE show Clerge is being held without bond after being committed into custody on Thursday. WGAL reported that Clerge is set to make a preliminary court appearance on Dec. 23.
