Police in New York City say a man was found unconscious with injuries inside an abandoned ambulance over the weekend. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel who responded to the scene.
On the morning of Saturday, June 7, New York Police Department officials responded to a report of an aided male and found an unresponsive 60-year-old man with trauma to the neck, NYPD said in a statement.
Emergency medical officials responded to the scene and declared him dead, per the statement. His identity has not been released.
According to Eyewitness News, the man was found inside an ambulance without any wheels, abandoned on the side of the road.
Video footage from the outlet shows the ambulance with a mangled front and without any wheels. The ambulance had a white cross painted on its windshield, the video shows.

The NYPD did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for confirmation that the man was found inside an ambulance. The medical examiner’s office has yet to determine the cause and manner of his death pending further study and test results, they told PEOPLE in a statement.
