A Regions Bank employee in Smyrna, Ga., was accused of stealing money from an elderly customer through ATM withdrawals between October and November 2024, reports WSB-TV, citing an arrest warrant.
Stephanie Rose Kilbert was charged with exploiting an elderly or disabled person and theft, according to court records viewed by PEOPLE.
Kilbert, who was an employee at Regions Bank at the time, was allegedly assisting an elderly customer who was a regular customer of the Smyrna branch. She allegedly withdrew $8,000 from the victim’s account without his knowledge. She made multiple transactions between Oct. 3 and Nov. 4, 2024, WSB-TV reports, citing a Cobb County arrest warrant.
A Regions Bank representative confirmed with PEOPLE that Kilbert was terminated from her position in February and that the customer was credited for all reported transactions.
“Rest assured, we have zero tolerance for the type of behavior alleged in this case. Our investigators have strong relationships with law enforcement, and we are committed to helping bring this matter to justice,” the representative said.
On Tuesday, April 2, Judge Brendan Murphy set a $15,000 bond for Kilbert.
