At least five teenagers were wounded when a gunman opened fire at an apartment block in Texas.

A group of people aged between 15 and 17 were in an outdoor area of the Commissioner’s Corner Apartments on Montana Avenue in East El Paso just before 9 p.m. local time on Monday, Sept. 22, when they appeared to get into an altercation, KTSM and CBS 4 Local reported, citing the El Paso Police Department.

Officer Adrian Cisneros told the outlets that a man began shooting as the fight escalated.

Two females and three males were taken to the hospital after being struck in the incident, according to ABC News.

One of the female victims suffered possibly critical wounds, while the other four people are described as having “non-life-threatening injuries,” per KTSM.
