At Least 2 Students Wounded in Colorado High School Shooting By Liam Quinn

Three students, including the suspected shooter, are in critical condition after a shooting at a high school in Evergreen, Colo.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said there had been a shooting at Evergreen High School and that three had been hospitalized.

Jacki Kelley, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said at a press conference that the shooter was among the three hospitalized. The shooting was reported at 12:24 p.m. mountain time.

The shooting was on school property but might have occurred outside the building, Kelley said.

Kelley said a fourth person was taken to the hospital, but it was unknown if that person was shot.

Authorities have not identified the suspected shooter. Police say there is no active threat to the community.

Jefferson County emergency services said in a post on X that there was an “active assailant” in the area of Evergreen High School.

The Denver Post, citing a hospital spokesperson, reported that three people were taken to CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital in critical condition.

“I am closely monitoring the situation at Evergreen High School, and am getting live updates,” Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said in a post on X. “State Troopers are supporting local law enforcement in responding to this situation. Students should be able to attend school safely and without fear across our state and nation. We are all praying for the victims and the entire community.”
