- Andrew and Tristan are facing multiple other legal investigations
Controversial internet personality Andrew Tate and his younger brother Tristan Tate are facing a total of 21 criminal charges, including rape and human trafficking, in the U.K., prosecutors announced Wednesday, May 28.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew, 38, is charged with rape, human trafficking, actual bodily harm and controlling prostitution for gain related to allegations from three women, according to BBC, The Telegraph, and ABC News.
Meanwhile, Tristan, 36, faces charges related to one alleged female victim, including rape, human trafficking and actual bodily harm.
It’s unclear if the brothers have entered pleas or retained attorneys to speak on their behalf.
In a statement shared with The Telegraph, the CPS said, “These charging decisions followed receipt of a file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police. A European Arrest Warrant was issued in England in 2024, and as a result the Romanian courts ordered the extradition to the UK of Andrew and Tristan Tate. However, the domestic criminal matters in Romania must be settled first.”
PEOPLE reached out to the Crown Prosecution Service for comment on Wednesday but did not immediately hear back.
The Tate brothers, who are dual U.S.-British citizens from Chicago, are facing multiple other legal investigations.
Andrew and Tristan were first arrested in Romania in 2022 in connection with an investigation looking into human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.

Romanian authorities indicted the Tate brothers on the charges in June 2023, placing them on house arrest and confiscating several of their assets.
In December 2024, however, a Romanian appeals court ruled that the human trafficking case against the Tate brothers could not go to trial due to several legal and procedural irregularities from the prosecutors, according to the Associated Press. The case has since been returned to the prosecutors and remains open.

Andrew and Tristan faced additional charges in March 2024, but this time they stemmed from a U.K. arrest warrant relating to alleged sexual aggression charges. Despite the mounting charges against them, both of the Tate brothers have maintained their innocence and denied all of the allegations, according to BBC.
