American Idol alum Colin Stough is facing legal trouble.
The 20-year-old musician — who was featured on season 21 of the singing competition series — was arrested and charged with a DUI, underage consumption of alcohol and failure to exercise due care on Friday, Feb. 28, according to TMZ.
Highway patrol officers found Stough when they responded to a single-vehicle crash on the I-840 freeway heading eastbound near the 37-mile marker in Tennessee’s Williamson County, which is located a few miles south of Nashville, authorities told the outlet.
Stough was transported to a hospital, before being booked by police. He eventually was bailed out, TMZ reported.
Representatives for Stough and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Saturday, March 1.
On the same day as his arrest, Stough shared a video on Instagram of himself singing one of his songs while walking in a forest.
He wrote over the short video, “I’m not perfect and will never claim to be. But I will admit when I’m wrong and that’s a fact.”

In the caption of the post, Stough added, “Never let anyone hold you down for not being a certain way.”
The musician later reshared the video on his Instagram Stories and also uploaded posts about getting a haircut.
During his American Idol stint, Stough impressed the judges with his rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man.”
He eventually became a finalist, making it all the way to the end of the season, before he was eliminated in third place behind runner-up Megan Danielle and winner Iam Tongi.
Stough received praise for his vocals from the American Idol judges, with Katy Perry, who has since exited the series, even describing him as “the Brad Pitt of country music.”
She added of his talent, “He’s got the taste and the song choice and the vocal ability.”
According to Stough’s website, he is next scheduled to perform in Sarasota Springs, N.Y., on Thursday, Mar. 6. He will then perform shows in Vermont and Rhode Island.
It was announced last month that Stough would be headlining the Mississippi Makers Fest 2025, per Supertalk Mississippi.
