Amanda Knox returned to Italy in 2022 to confront the prosecutor who sent her to prison — and the experience is now being included as part of a documentary directed by her husband.
Knox, whose murder conviction and eventual exoneration made her the subject of an intense media firestorm, took part in the upcoming Hulu documentary Mouth of the Wolf: Amanda Knox Returns to Italy, which saw her go back to the country where she was imprisoned.
In 2008, Knox, then an American student studying in Italy, was convicted of the murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, a British student who was sexually assaulted and then violently killed the year before.
Knox and her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were the primary suspects in the case and both were eventually convicted, though both have since been exonerated and set free.
Rudy Guede was convicted of the murder in 2008 after traces of his DNA were found at the scene.
Since she was set free, Knox has been working as a writer and activist and has two children with her husband, Christopher Robinson, whom she married in 2020.
Robinson directed Mouth of the Wolf, which gives “audiences unprecedented access to [Knox’s] story,” according to a press release.

Mouth of the Wolf, which premieres on Hulu and Disney+ on Monday, Jan. 26, follows Knox on a trip to speak at an Italy Innocence Project conference and culminates with a meeting between her and Giuliano Mignini, who prosecuted her case nearly 20 years ago.
Knox’s conviction was overturned and she was released from an Italian prison in 2011. She was exonerated in 2015.

Guede was sentenced to 30 years in prison following his conviction but after an appeal, it was reduced to 16 years.
He was released three years early in 2021, the Associated Press reported.
In 2025, Hulu released a limited series about the case titled The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, in which she was portrayed by Grace Van Patten.
