A newborn baby girl has been found inside a cardboard box on the side of the road, sparking a police investigation as officials try to locate her parents.

On Wednesday, Sept. 24 at around 6:50 a.m. local time, a resident discovered the baby along a road in Tuguegarao City in the Philippines, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said in a statement on Facebook.

The infant, believed to be a newborn, was taken to Tuguegarao City Peoples General Hospital, where doctors confirmed she was in good health, according to Newsflare, per the Associated Press. The outlet reported that it was a passing grandmother who had discovered the baby.

Authorities believe the baby was less than a day old, as she was found with a “clipped” umbilical cord, per Newsflare.
