  • Tiffani Teasdale’s 5-month-old daughter Pixie required hospital treatment after two unidentified e-scooter riders sprayed a fire extinguisher into their car
  • On Sunday, June 15, Pixie was in the backseat of a Silver Suzuki Vitara when the incident occurred
  • “[Pixie] was completely covered in white powder and just looked like she was in shock, she wasn’t even crying,” Teasdale told ABC News

A 5-month-old baby girl had to be rushed to the hospital after being sprayed with a fire extinguisher in Australia.

At around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, Tiffani Teasdale and her 29-year-old partner were at the traffic lights on High Street in Sippy Downs, Queensland, with her daughter Pixie in the backseat when two unknown people approached their vehicle on e-scooters, according to a Queensland Police news release.

The individuals discharged a fire extinguisher through the window of the couple’s Silver Suzuki Vitara that caused both Teasdale’s partner and daughter to require hospital treatment for “minor injuries,” per the news release.

“The car just filled up with gas and white powder straight away,” Teasdale told ABC News. “[Pixie] was completely covered in white powder and just looked like she was in shock, she wasn’t even crying.”

After rushing to the hospital, the mother was instructed by doctors to hold down Pixie for them to “put 100 millilitres of saline solution into her eyes.”

She told ABC News that her daughter was discharged after being in the hospital until the “very early” hours of the morning, but her condition requires continued monitoring.

“She’s quite red in the face, her eyes are still a bit swollen,” Teasdale said of Pixie, per the outlet. “She’s a little bit wheezy but I think she should be fine.”

The mother shared a video of the aftermath of the “horrific” incident on Facebook’s Sunshine Coast Community Board with the hopes of appealing to witnesses. The clip shows the interior of the car covered in layers of white film alongside destroyed baby items.

“Very lucky my partner had my child in the car and that her safety was his first priority,” she captioned the video. “I’m all for young kids having fun but this is actually disgusting. Please discipline your children. And if you are reading this, congratulations on putting my 5 months old baby in hospital you flogs.”

A local car detailing business has offered to clean the family’s car for free, ABC News reported.

Queensland police found the fire extinguisher believed to have been used in the incident nearby on Stringybark Road, Sippy Downs, but their investigation is ongoing, according to their news release.

“Investigators are appealing to residents and business in the area between 7:30 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. whom may have relevant information, CCTV or dashcam vision to contact police,” Queensland police said.

Queensland police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Monday, June 16.
