Four people have been killed during a mass shooting at a Montana bar on Friday, Aug. 1, the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) announced in a press release.
The shooting took place at 10:30 a.m. local time at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, a city of fewer than 10,000 people.
The suspect has been named as Michael Paul Brown, with no age given, by the Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Center in a Facebook post. According to the DCI press release, the shooter “is believed to be armed.”
The Granite County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed on Facebook that there was an “active shooter” in Anaconda. “The shooter is said to be wearing a tye-dyed shirt, blue jeans and an orange bandana,” the post read.

According to NBC Montana, the city of Anaconda is on lockdown. The DCI requested that people avoid the area.

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte wrote on Facebook that he’s “closely monitoring the situation involving an active shooter in Anaconda.”
