Authorities are searching for two suspects who allegedly stole at least four vehicles during a police chase in downtown Los Angeles.
On Sunday, Aug. 10, police responded to a call of a “carjacking at gunpoint” in Lancaster. Two suspects allegedly stole a pickup truck at the scene before taking off, leading officers on a chase along the 5 Freeway near Sylmar, Fox 11 Los Angeles and NBC4 Los Angeles reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department Central Division announced on X, “There is an active CHP pursuit in the Downtown L.A. area. Please use caution. Suspect vehicle is a white semi truck and trailer.”
The LAPD said in a follow-up post that the suspects “are considered armed and dangerous.” The police later added in an update on X that the suspects had fled the semi-truck and broken into an Alameda under the 10 freeway.
In footage of the police chase captured on live TV, per Fox 11 Los Angeles, the suspects were seen driving on the wrong side of the freeway as they attempted to break into other vehicles. They eventually broke into a white semi-trailer truck and continued along the freeway, per authorities.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m. local time, the suspects fled the big rig and broke into a white pickup truck as they headed to Boyle Heights, per Fox 11 Los Angeles.

During the hour-long police chase, the suspects drove through various L.A. areas, including Santa Clarita, Hollywood, Echo Park and Westlake.
The assailants allegedly stole a fourth vehicle, a black Sedan, in Lincoln Heights, as they sped away out of the sight of the police, NBC4 Los Angeles and ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported.
