16 and Pregnant Alum Whitney Purvis Granted $15K Bond After Involuntary Manslaughter Arrest By Stephanie Wenger and Danielle Bacher

Whitney Purvis was granted bond 10 days after she was arrested on suspicion of felony involuntary manslaughter.

The 16 and Pregnant alum’s bond was set for $15,000 at a court hearing on July 17, according to online records viewed by PEOPLE.

The conditions of the bond include Purvis continuing treatment, not using drugs or alcohol, submitting monthly drug screenings, not directly or indirectly contacting with the victim’s family, and adhering to a curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The former MTV star, 33, has yet to be released from the Floyd County Correctional Institution in Georgia where she’s in custody, per jail records.

“She is still in our facility, just because someone is granted a bond does not mean they will bond out,” Deputy Corey Bowers, the Public Information Officer for Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, tells PEOPLE in a statement.

An attorney for Purvis and Floyd County Correctional Institution did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Purvis was arrested on suspicion of felony involuntary manslaughter in Floyd County, Georgia, on July 7, PEOPLE previously confirmed. 

The former television personality was also charged with distribution of a controlled substance and use of a communication device to commit a felony involving controlled substances.

​​Purvis’ arrest was in relation to the death of John M. Harris, who died of an overdose in February. In an affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, it was alleged that Purvis “distributed a substance presented as ‘Tranq,’ commonly known as Xylazine and Fentanyl” to John M. Harris. The substance allegedly “directly contributed in the victim’s death due to a toxic overdose.”

Purvis commented on his obituary on March 3, mourning the loss of Harris and expressing why she had missed his funeral.

“I wish I could’ve found out sooner and attended your celebration of life. thank you for being such a great friend to me and always making me feel beautiful and cared for. You’ve came to my rescue on many occasions and saved me over the years,” the message read, in part. “I could tell you anything and you always knew what to say or give me your honest opinion and advice. I am so very thankful for the times we had together. My brain just can’t process this happened. I don’t want it to be true.”

One day after Purvis’ arrest, she was listed as being held in the Georgia county jail’s medical cell block on suicide watch.

Law enforcement sources confirmed to TMZ that Purvis was placed into the medical cell block after “making suicidal comments behind bars.”

The outlet also reports that the reality star was undergoing a drug detox and experiencing effects of withdrawal.

At the time, PEOPLE reached out to Floyd County Correctional Institution, but they were unable to say whether the report is true. PEOPLE was not been able to independently verify the report otherwise, but reached out to an attorney who previously represented Purvis.

Purvis’ arrest comes one month after she announced the sudden death of her son Weston at age 16 on June 2, in a Facebook post.

“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just dont understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don’t know what to do with myself,” her announcement began.

“He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child? I’m in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don’t want it to be real,” she wrote in part. “I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can’t describe the pain I am feeling.”

A few days later, she told PEOPLE that she “can’t even imagine a future now” and “can’t imagine going on” after the loss.

“I’ve kind of wanted to be alone just because I have a hard time just talking to people,” she said of her emotions in the days following. “I just go through so many emotions, like being sad, being mad. It’s just been really, really rough. I’ve never cried this hard in my life, to where my eyeballs are swollen.”

“I can’t distract myself,” she added. “It’s going through my mind constantly. I hate to even pick up my phone.”
