Meprolight MPO PRO-F Enclosed Red Dot Reviewed on a Springfield Prodigy

November 8, 2026

The Armory Life's Joshua Swanagon reviewed the Meprolight MPO PRO-F, an enclosed-emitter pistol red dot with a selectable three-part reticle, running it on a Springfield Prodigy DS Comp.

Key points

  • Build: 7075-T6 aluminum housing, IP67 rated for 30 minutes at one meter, and fog-proof. It weighs 3.1 ounces with battery and plate, and MSRP is $439.99.
  • Reticle: A 3 MOA dot, a 33 MOA ring, or both together as a bullseye, adjusted at 1 MOA per click with plus or minus 30 MOA of travel.
  • Power: One CR1632 in a side-loading tray, rated at 20,000+ hours on setting 5 with the dot. It has 10 daylight and 2 night vision settings, auto or manual brightness, a 15-minute auto shutoff and motion wake-up.
  • Mounting: It is listed as RMR footprint but attaches through a proprietary plate that carries the RMR pattern. On the Prodigy it sat too high to co-witness the iron sights.
  • Range: From a rest at roughly 20 yards, the first shot hit about 2 inches high but centered. After an elevation fix he shot a single 2-inch hole.

Quick take

Swanagon, who has astigmatism, preferred the dot-and-ring setting because the ring helps him center the dot, and he ran manual brightness because the auto setting did not suit his eye. He called the optic and Prodigy pairing a strong choice for duty or home. He also says the large, blocky optic suits full-size pistols better than compact ones.
