Jack Wolf’s newest project hit the streets last week, a collaboration fixed blade called the Prickly Pear. The Pear should go down smoothly for anybody who is a fan of the EDC fixed blade concept, or nice leather sheaths.
Within the EDC fixed blade sub-genre, there’s a sub-sub-genre for scalpel-style knives. It’s a concept that may seem strange at first but, when you consider that a scalpel, by its very nature, is designed to deliver a lot of cutting power in a small, ergonomics-forward format, it’s easy to see how this medical implement made the transition from the operating table to the pocket.
I have used scalpel-style blades in skinning applications and the point about ergonomic control is really a significant point. I like this more than I thought I might the more I look at it.
