Jack Wolf is losing no time in getting its diversifying its offerings and price points. They have just released the K9 Jack into both their mid-range Steel Series line, as well as making a variation which is the first entry in their new Ultralight Series.

This is not the first rodeo for this particular model. The K9 Jack is, naturally, the Jack Wolf Knives homage to the dogleg pattern, so named for the characteristic curve in its handle – not unlike the joint and angle of a canine’s ambulatory appendage. The original K9 Jack run released under Jack Wolf’s main line, which is to say fully dressed in high-end materials and steel – the price point that, until somewhat recently, all Jack Wolf pieces released at.

We recently covered the Gateway Jack, which inaugurated another new element of the Jack Wolf catalog, the Gateway Series, competitively-priced entry level pieces from the typically high-end company. Half of the new K9 Jack batch slots into the Steel Series, which lands in the middle of the two price points and material configs. 154CM is the blade steel on these ones, and of course there are different options for the scales: black canvas Micarta, yellow jigged bone, and red sawcut Richlite.

The Steel Series K9s are accompanied by two versions designated as Ultralight models. In lieu of the bolsters on other K9s, these ones come with blue or OD green G-10 scales, or black Micarta ones, which makes them the lightest option by a mile: 1.76 oz. compared to 3.25 oz. on the standard versions. There is a bit of variance in terms of steel on these three, with the blue G-10 and black Micarta models made from 154CM and the OD green flavor sporting S90V, Jack Wolf’s favored super steel.

This whole litter of K9s is available now.
