Hey all, welcome to the most cobbled together Weekend Open Thread in KNIFE Magazine history. I have already documented the reasons for my failure to get the WOT out last week. I am not apologizing, as family does take precedence over what is essentially a part-time job. But missing a deadline, even if self imposed, never sits well with me.
I had started this at my son’s basketball tournament, which seems like months ago. I tried to get something our before Christmas Day ended, but alas.
I will put a couple of Christmas related memes in a minute, and of course there will be college football memes as well. I went to the Buckeyes v Tennessee game, which put me behind the 8 ball.
Anyone got a theory about these drones?
Is Chris Christie behind it?
If so, he had better be careful…
There are lots of state-themed memes…
And PA…
Pennsyltucky
This seems plausible…
Or this…
Remember…
Nothing happening on the Knife Show front. Next thing listed is SHOT Show, which isn’t open to the public. I will be there, potentially on my own. Mark may have a conflict. That is an intimidating prospect.
A different Mark, Mark R. played the 12 days of Christmas card, and gave me permission to use some of the Christmas stuff I had already gathered….
I think I may have used it last year too, but it is a great Christmas song.
I see no problem with this.
A true hero.
What would Ralphie’s finishing move be?
Walked into that one.
What is your favorite Christmas movie?
Creepy.
Did you get it?

More music…
Not as big a fail as this…
This is a fail, but at least they are trying…
I love that KFC is a Christmas tradition in Japan.
I have a beard, and I am giving away a knife for free…
Stuart B….Congrats, you are the winner of the CRKT Razel Compact. It will be on its way shortly.
One more CRKT to finish out 2024, then we will take a break and switch to Vosteed. They sent us 4 knives, so we will change things up a bit next week.
This week’s giveaway is one of CRKT’s most popular models of the past several years, by one of the hottest designers out there – Lucas Burnley. The knife is the Squid, and Lucas is a super nice guy. I first met him at the Kentucky Custom Knife Show a few years ago. He auctioned off shaving his head for charity. I can’t remember how much, but it was over $1000.
Usual rules apply, up to 5 comments or replies are your entries, and if you are a. new commenter your comments count double in the drawing, but will be held in moderation until I can approve them.
Good luck everyone
I had to cut out all of my pre-UT/tOSU memes. But it was a heck of an experience. After the scUM game, I was pretty crushed. I would never have imagined that I would be in the Shoe 3 weeks later. Knoxville went bonkers, and Vol Twitter was relentless.
With so many people I knew driving up, I needed to be a part of a shared experience that will be discussed locally for years to come.
It was an old fashioned whuppin’, but UT fans brought Neyland to the Shoe for sure.
I faced more chirping on my walk the length of High Street wearing red, than I faced in Houston wearing Browns gear last January. It was wild.
This summed it up…
Tennessee gets smoked.

Vol fans have already moved on…
It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. This video was shot from a UT fan point of view, but it was my first time at the Shoe as well. It might as well have been me behind the camera.
It is long, but I think it captures the experience better than anything I have seen.
Not mad at all. Still a bit chafed, because it is baffling, but we are moving on.
Meanwhile, in Eugene.
Now it is on to the Granddaddy of them All. The Rose Bowl.
It is still Ohio Against the World…
Vegas pegs us as a slight favorite, but the national media is still raking us over the coals.
Related…
As for me, I am nervous that I am not more nervous about this game. It is going to be a track meet. But I think that the Buckeye defense is much more dialed in than at the first meeting.
Better than being a Browns fan…
The struggle is real.
Narrator: They lost to the Bengals.
Sucks to be you kid.
You too.
Now on to the random memes of the week. This was my favorite…
It’s DnD humor.
Flavortown Dungeon.
Too soon?
Bada-bing.
Where are you standing?
We used to be a proper country.
It’s a trap!
Switching gears for a moment…
Pardon the language, but no condemnation is harsh enough for the subhuman monsters who have held Israeli Hostages for more than a year. I will not be silent, I will not forget, and I will continue to use my platform to call for the hostages’ release. I will not stop until they are all safe or accounted for.
But this is a humor post, and I want to wish my Jewish friends and neighbors a happy Hanukkah. The Hanukkah story is one of resilience, and y’all have shown this once again.
Bringing things back around, another holiday favorite…
Strangely suitable for work for a Murphys song.
It is a noble calling. One day they will sing ballads about my memeing.
It is not my decision. Pharaoh decreed it.
A little conversation starter for the comments.
Have a great New Years.
Stay Safe Everyone.
