CRKT is here at NRAAM 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia, with a neat new folding-bladed tool, the Provoke X Axe. Following the success of the Provoke Karambit and the Kinematic action, CRKT has announced the next new tool for this category, a folding axe the Provoke X. A first-of-its kind the collapsing axe can be folded up and tucked in your pocket, but easily deploys with just a flick of your wrist for whenever you might need it.

The D2 blade and spike are secured open with CRKT’s industry-leading Deadbolt lock and slide in recesses when the handle is closed for added safety. Talking of safety, the closing of this axe automatically trips the safety in the handle that makes sure the Provoke X axe cannot open up on accident. Though for ease of opening up the Provoke X axe, the safety can be easily released in either hand and from either side of the handle. For added corrosion protection, the finish on this axe is a titanium nitride coating. MSRP for this compact little axe is set at $350.00 and should be available soon this year.

I had a chance to play with this at SHOT Show. Funky bit of engineering.  I like it better as a cool piece of design than I do as a practical tool.
