The Fiocchi Hyperformance lineup is growing again, with new hunting ammunition specifically designed for handgun shooters. The new Fiocchi Hyperperformance Hunt lineup is coming to market in four different chamberings, with choices for revolver or autoloaders.
Here’s how Fiocchi describes the new ammo:
Hyperformance Hunt
Fiocchi’s newest addition to the Hyperformance Hunt lineup – Handgun Hunting and Wilderness Defense ammunition utilizing the venerable Barnes XPB, all copper hollow point. This hard-hitting projectile features exceptional weight retention, controlled expansion, and deep penetration. Ammunition that is built for the conditions and demands of the modern hunter!
Fiocchi has been beefing up its Hyperperformance line for the past couple of years, adding both self-defense and hunting rounds to the series. In 2023, they introduced a .223 Hyperperformance load for varmint hunting at SHOT Show. Other Hyperperformance rifle cartridges include options in .270 Winchester, 7MM-08, .243 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7MM Remington Magnum, .308 Winchester, 300 Blackout, .30-06 Springfield and .300 Winchester Magnum. For most chamberings, multiple bullet weights are available—see more here.
The new handgun hunting rounds add options in .357 Magnum (pushing a 140-grain bullet at 1150 fps); 10MM Auto (pushing a 155-grain bullet at 1165 fps); .44 Magnum (pushing a 225-grain bullet at 1240 fps); and .45 Long Colt (a 200-grain load at 1010 fps). Given the popularity of some of those cartridges in states that allow straight-walled cartridges for deer hunting with rifles, it’s also possible we will see some interest from those jurisdictions. These new rounds would be very potent if stuffed in a Model 1892 lever-action or something like a Ruger 77/44.
Of course, hunting is not the only application for these rounds, as the video above points out. Many backwoods adventurers, including bowhunters, are also interested in packing hard-hitting firepower into a handgun. The same goes for geologists and others whose employment keeps their hands busy while they’re working in bear country.
We have not seen an MSRP for the new rounds yet, but they are apparently available in 25-round boxes.
