Over the last 40 years, Leatherman has pioneered the multitool category. Its pliers-first design revolutionized the world of everyday carry tools so much that the brand name “Leatherman” is nearly synonymous with the now-common design.
And over the course of those decades, Leatherman has brainstormed myriad designs that haven’t seen the light of day. Well, some of them are finally hitting the virtual shelves.
Today through Thursday, April 2, Leatherman gives fans a rare opportunity to purchase some of these hard-to-obtain models through its once-a-year “from the vault” event.
Here’s what’s available now, how you can enter a lottery to buy these knives, and when more will drop in the coming days.
Leatherman ‘From the Vault’
Leatherman opened its vault this morning, showcasing four products now available for public purchase. One product, the Batch #007: Malloy Special and Hat, is available to buy now.
The Malloy Special is a compact fixed blade built for everyday versatility — and for a limited time, get a free Leatherman x Malloy Brothers hat with your purchase.
The three other products require customers to enter a purchase lottery. The three multitools — Batch #001: Mr. Crunch, Batch #004: Europe75, and Batch #002: The Darkside — will sell from $125 to $250.
Probably the most compelling model is the Mr. Crunch. It’s based on Leatherman’s most advanced model, the FREE P4, but adds a double plier initially tested during Tim Leatherman’s prototyping era of the 1970s.

Or, for those who love moody, high-tech innovations, the Darkside is a very intriguing piece. Summarized from Leatherman’s own words:
For the next Garage release, we’re venturing into The Darkside. This product embodies the Garage’s creative process, uncovering inspiration in unfamiliar places and fostering innovation. Inspired by our collaboration with Tom Sachs, we asked the question: Can we push ourselves to make something extraordinary?
The Darkside, inspired by “culture, music, and relationships,” has layered G10 handles, an S30V knife blade, and 21 tools. Enter the lottery to get one for $250.

Finally, the BATCH #004: Europe75 is the value option from the vault, priced at $125.
According to the brand, the Europe75 is based on Tim and Chau Leatherman’s travels through Europe in the ‘70s. The knife is inspired by their idea to create a multipurpose knife ideal for travelers. It has 11 tools, including a 420HC Stainless Steel blade, so don’t forget to put it in your checked luggage.

While there are plenty of great knives and tools available from Leatherman, its Vault event offers some unique models for its most rabid fans. If you count yourself among those numbers, the brand will drop more knives and tools on Wednesday and Thursday.
Check back at the vault at 9 a.m. PDT to find the latest offerings and sign up for a lottery purchase if any catch your eye.
