Whether you’re team Epic or team Ikon, one thing’s for sure: Skiing is expensive. Both passes retail for over $1,000, and without one, a single day at many popular resorts can easily run a few hundred bucks. If you’re under 30, though, there’s good news for you and your wallet.
Vail Resorts recently announced it will offer a 20% discount on 2026/27 Epic passes for those aged 13 to 30. Here’s what you need to know.
The Discount
The 20% discount drops the price of an Epic Pass to $869 and an Epic Local Pass to $649. For families with teens, this could spell significant savings.
If you’re of eligible age and visited a resort during the 2025/26 season with just a lift ticket, you can score an extra $175 off the purchase of a pass.

“The future of the sport depends on the next generation of skiers and riders, and it is our responsibility to create a more accessible pathway for them well into young adulthood,” Rob Katz, CEO of Vail Resorts, said in a press release.
“We know that young travelers, especially Gen Z, are prioritizing experiences when deciding how to spend their time and money — and we hope to make skiing and snowboarding an easy decision for them.”
The news also comes during historically low snow years across Colorado and Utah, which is hitting the bottom line of resorts and resort towns that rely heavily on tourism.
