Few outdoor brands in the hunting space do direct, on-the-ground conservation work like KUIU. Conservation Direct is a program the brand established to make a meaningful positive impact on wildlife populations.
In a time when big talk doesn’t always lead to big action, KUIU is putting serious money where its mouth is. The company’s conservation program is completely funded by the brand and its customers. Every penny goes toward actual tangible conservation work in the field.
KUIU’s most recent sheep reintroduction has concluded, where desert bighorns were relocated to the Montana Mountains of Northern Nevada.
“On behalf of KUIU and our great customers, we are thrilled to partner with NDOW and NBU to make a direct impact on the future of California bighorn sheep in the state of Nevada. Proactive sheep management with an emphasis on expanding both sheep numbers and hunting opportunities is a tremendous win for everyone..”
— Brendan Burns, KUIU Director of Conservation
The program has completed conservation programs in several other states, including North Dakota, Utah, and Arizona. Aside from relocating sheep, Conservation Direct also focuses on assuring that herds have access to water with projects like installing an 11,500-gallon artificial water catchment system in Nevada.
