The cult classic Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) Cooler Jacket — aka “The Sixer” — is finally back. After an 8-year hiatus, 686 teamed up with PBR to revive the beer-toting, style-dripping, fan-favorite winter jacket — with a built-in six-pack carrier that originally launched in 2017. The jacket is just one piece of a full PBR kit that 686 dropped on Oct. 9, 2025.
This time around, 686 roped in French artist Lucas Beaufort to add some hand-drawn artistic panache. The result is a stylish red, white, and blue homage to the 180-year-old beer brand. That’s enough to make any on-mountain hipster green with envy.
“PBR reconnected with us last year, looking to revisit this cult classic. We said yes on one condition — that we could reinterpret it with our learnings from the first project and inspirations over the recent few seasons,” 686’s VP of Marketing, Brent Sandor, told GearJunkie. “PBR did not hesitate to let creativity take its course. The rest is history.”
The 686 x PBR capsule includes nine different pieces of ski apparel. There’s the Cooler Jacket, a 686 Waterproof Hoody, a primer mitt, a recon mitt, a beanie, a balaclava, a neck gaiter, socks, and limited-edition SMARTY Magnetic Goggles with a slick PBR strap.
686 x PBR: A Colorful Capsule to Carry Your Brews
If you’ve ever tried carrying a full six-pack up onto the mountain, you know what pain it can be. You have to cram your pockets full of cans, or it takes up your entire backpack, or you have to use one of those not-so-discrete beer bandoliers. It’s an age-old problem that’s plagued skiers and riders since time immemorial.
The Cooler Jacket is 686’s solution, and a damn clever one if we do say so ourselves. In the back of the jacket, a zippered compartment neatly holds a full six-pack of PBRs — or whatever brew you decide to stick in there. The jacket is lightly insulated and made with infiDRY 10K waterproof fabric to protect you (and your beers) from the elements.
“We went over the top, lining pockets with soft cooler material and adding volume to specific pockets for can-fit,” Sandor said. “The crux of the piece is the back. We were inspired by slackcountry vests and wanted to bring this comfortable, wearable storage of a backpack into this jacket.”
Sandor noted that they recommend skiing or riding without the beers. But then, “loading this thing up for an après, tailgate, camping, or fishing expedition with the crew. It works incredibly well for game day, too.”

Beaufort’s bold, fun artwork adds a splash of creativity that makes the collection pop. This is more than a bunch of 686 gear with PBR logos slapped on — it’s a genuinely artistic collaboration. His hand-drawn graphics tie everything tastefully together with a fun, cartoonish vibe.
“When he is on the session or during the après, Lucas brings a special kind of raw energy that is both infectious and contagious,” 686 VP of Marketing Brent Sandor said in a press release. “It seems fitting that Lucas found a way to reignite the 686 x PBR collaboration with his DIY and independent spirit.”

This is the first of five collaborations that 686 is dropping over the 2025-26 ski season. If it’s any indication of what’s to come, we’re already stoked for the next four.
