Spring is in the air, and ski season is winding down across the northern hemisphere. But that doesn’t mean it’s over if you haven’t had your fill.
If you’re still itching to hit the slopes, slash some turns, and stay on snow, the Mountain Gazette‘s Portillo Giveaway is a chance to win 5 days of skiing and lodging for two at Chile’s renowned Portillo ski resort this summer. The lucky winners will also get airfare, ski gear, and more.
All you have to do is enter your name and email address on the Mountain Gazette website before May 2.
“Portillo is a dream,” Mike Rogge, editor of the Mountain Gazette, said in a press release. “There’s nowhere like it.”
The Portillo Giveaway is back after a year-long hiatus. The first (and last) time the Mountain Gazette held this giveaway was in 2023. Now, the magazine is back at it and making the giveaway even more enticing with an extensive grand prize package.
“We’re stoked to bring this giveaway back and send two lucky skiers down for the trip of a lifetime,” Rogge said. “And let’s be honest: people could use a break right now.”

Portillo Giveaway Grand Prize: What Do You Win?
If you win the Mountain Gazette Portillo Giveaway, the trip to Chile isn’t exactly “all-expenses-paid,” but it’s pretty darn close.
Not only do you and a friend win 5 days of skiing at Portillo, but you also get 4 nights of lodging in a lake view room at the Hotel Portillo right at the base of the mountain.
The winner will also get $1,000 toward airfare, two pairs of 4FRNT MSP 107 skis, two Outdoor Research Technical Jackets and Pants/Bibs, Osprey Transporter Wheeled Duffel Bags, your choice between the Osprey Soelden 22 or Sopris 20 Ski Packs, Smartwool Thermal Merino Base Layers and Socks, Party Shirt International Stretch Tech Shirts and Sun Hoodies, Forsake sneaker boots, and an Infrared (IR) Waxer from mountainFLOW.
Oh, and you’ll also win a bunch of Mountain Gazette merch.
Mountain Gazette: The Original Outdoor Mag

The Mountain Gazette (originally Skier’s Gazette) first came out in 1966. For decades, it was an iconic publication in outdoor journalism, featuring essays and articles from some of the best adventure and outdoor writers of the time.
It’s gone through an awful lot of change in its 59 years: Nearly going out of business, getting revived by the legendary John Fayhee, and receding again into obscurity before finally being bought by Rogge in 2020.
Since then, the magazine has had a second (maybe third?) wind. Rogge is breathing fresh life back into its pages and publishing the kind of long-form stories that people are desperately hungry to read.
He’s also organizing rad giveaways in the spirit of the Mountain Gazette, like the Portillo Giveaway. For the full list of rules and restrictions for the sweepstakes, check out Mountain Gazette‘s webpage for it. Enter for your chance to win, and get a friend to sign up for a referral bonus.
