Beretta's One-Off APX Falco Has a Red Dot Machined Into the Slide
Beretta and Burris have unveiled the APX Falco, a one-off pistol for Beretta's 500th anniversary with a red dot machined into the same steel block as the slide, according to a press release published by Soldier Systems Daily.
Key points
- Optic: The companies say building the dot and slide as one piece gives minimal dot height, steady alignment and lasting zero. They call the design patented and say they are currently the only ones offering it.
- Frame: A skeletonized steel frame with a Diamond-Like Carbon finish replaces the usual APX polymer frame, and an oversized machined magwell is meant to speed reloads.
- Slide and barrel: A lightweight ported slide with a built-in compensator, plus a shorter pre-tensioned barrel intended to cut vibration and hold point of impact.
- Finish and case: Falcon-inspired lines, a feather motif across grip and slide, and hand-engraved gold inlay. It comes with an aluminum case machined from one solid block, with a black Alcantara interior.
Quick take
Beretta CEO Carlo Ferlito said the Falco honors the APX, the company's first striker pistol, launched in 2017, and called it a statement that sets Beretta apart from mainstream tactical handgun design. Burris general manager Bruno Beccaria said the red dot was part of the design from the start rather than an accessory added at the end. The release presents the Falco as a single creation and lists no price or availability.
