By Massad Ayoob Posted in #Guns There’s a clarity of purpose when it comes to single-action pistols like the 1911. The single-action was the first type of semi-automatic pistol, and it still remains popular through to today. Sir Winston Churchill claimed such a gun, the Mauser C96, saved his life in the Battle of Omdurman in 1898. On our side of the Atlantic, the 1911 .45 was killing America’s enemies before World War I, and did so through that conflict, as well as World War II, Vietnam, and even into the 21st century’s War on Terror. Following last year’s launch of the Ruger RXM, the collaborative effort that resulted in Ruger partnering up with Magpul to produce a polymer-frame, striker-fired 9 mm handgun based on the third-generation Glock G19 pistol, Magpul has now launched a full-size grip module to fit this pistol. Washington Crosses The Delaware On Christmas night in 1776, General George Washington led American patriots across the Delaware River to attack the Hessian mercenary garrison at Trenton, New Jersey; a force which was fighting for the British. The places I like to hike are generally poorly blazed and aren’t easy to find on a map. That way, I get to wander around, foraging and grooming overgrown trails, with the reward of hanging my hammock without being bothered. Recently, one of my favorite pack makers, Mountainsmith, has been releasing products designed to exceed the needs of the average hiker. The EVO line is made from durable materials with a focus on…
