It seems there’s never a dull moment in the busy marketplace of outdoor gear. Outdoorsy women will have plenty to check out this week. That starts with the unstoppable growth of Gnara, which now brings its popular “pee zippers” to ski wear. But there’s also the fashion-centric, climbing-inspired apparel from The North Face, and a stylish makeover of KEEN hiking boots from Hikerkind. In the “leveling up your gear” category, we’ve got an “intelligent” hydration pack (using AI, of course) for “two-wheeled adventurers,” an extra-powerful backcountry water filter, and a super-long-lasting headlamp from one of GearJunkie’s favorite flashlight brands. Enjoy…
Say goodbye to nasty water at the bottom of coolers and bags of rock-hard ice. If you’re ready for a serious camp-kitchen upgrade, it’s time to welcome an electric cooler to your kit. The Dometic CFX5 55 takes the cake as our favorite, while the affordable Worx 20V Electric & Battery Powered Cooler is a good budget option for shorter outings. The team at GearJunkie is no stranger to these portable refrigerators. Editors Sean McCoy, Bryon Dorr, Nick Bruckbauer, and Seiji Iishi have been testing new models since 2019, scrutinizing their performance, evaluating features, and eating plenty of ice cream…
C&H Precision has recently introduced its new “big window” RMSc footprint compatible red-dot sight, called the RMSC Max. The C&H Precision RMSC Max has a window that offers a 90-percent larger reflective-lens surface area than the typical micro-reflex sights. The optic uses the popular Shield Sights RMSc mounting footprint, which is popular for thinner handguns on the market such as SIG Sauer P365, Glock G43 MOS, Taurus GX4 and others. The C&H RMSC Max has a housing made from 7075 series aluminum and is built to withstand the recoil from centerfire handgun ammunition. C&H designed the RMSC Max to run…
All good things come to an end. Apparently, after 5 years with no particular issues, someone humorless wokescold called Mark and complained about the memes being too political. I was told to knock it off. So we are retiring the Weekend Open Thread. I will be posting the weekend’s knife shows to the newsfeed each Friday from here on out. There will be a contest(s) to give away our remaining prize knives, so stay tuned. I hope you all continue to comment on other posts and not let this community fade away. I am sorry that this had to happen.…

That odd little fifth pocket on your jeans was originally designed to carry pocket watches. It has become a catch-all since pocket watches went the way of the dodo. From guitar picks to house keys, and even the errant cough drop, the fifth pocket can even become your little personal trash can. Honestly, the options are endless. I grew up using the fifth pocket to hide the fact that I was carrying a Swiss Army Knife in school. You couldn’t have knives in school, and I didn’t go anywhere without a knife. So, the unsuspecting fifth pocket became my keeper…
By Andy Grossman As is the case with most gun guys, I have evolved over time. What I mean by that is I started off looking strictly for self-defense-style firearms. I didn’t want anything flashy; just simple and reliable handguns. From there, I evolved on to rifles and then later shotguns. I started running out of new platforms to explore, so I began my journey of customizing firearms with accessories, performance upgrades and, of course, custom coatings. Smoke Signals As I have used about every coating available, I get very excited when a new coating shows up on the market.…
As I mentioned before, someone complained because they were offended by a meme, so the Weekend Open Thread is no more. Going forward, I will be posting the weekend’s Knife Shows to the newsfeed. This weekend there is one show. The Spirit of the Steel Show in Pigeon Forge. Next weekend there is one show as well… If you click on the images, it will take you to the show information. Have a great Weekend Everyone. Read the full article here
“Everyday carry,” or EDC for short, is among the most popular and controversial topics among armed citizens. People love talking about gear. They love arguing about gear. In this case, regarding EDC, the broad question is, “What should I carry on me every day when I leave the house?” The reason this topic is surrounded by so much debate is largely because of this false idea of “right” and “wrong” EDC and the very human impulse to either do what everybody else is doing, or to think everybody else should be doing what you’re doing. In much the same way…
