Integris is proud to introduce NOX, a compact ballistic shield engineered with Italy’s N.O.C.S. tactical unit and tested in the field by its operators. The shield will debut at Milipol in Paris, 18–21 November 2025. The ballistic shield was conceived after a consultation in which tactical operators described repeated challenges associated with traditional shields: difficulty moving inside buses, trains or narrow hallways, limited ability to climb while protected, and exposure when breaking windows or entering vehicles. N.O.C.S required a shield that could travel everywhere they could; up staircases, through tight door-frames, across vehicle interiors and into elevated access points, without…
This giveaway wants you to set the holidays on fire — literally. Pit Viper’s marketing has always leaned into a snarky counterculture, and its latest holiday giveaway doubles down on the brand’s trademark nuttiness. The Utah-based sunglasses brand has hosted a holiday giveaway called 12 Days of Turbo for several years now. It serves up weird, offbeat prizes that cater to its alternative audience. But this year may be the craziest giveaway yet. For the first of six prizes scheduled over the next 12 days, Pit Viper is giving away a flamethrower capable of blasting fire up to 30 feet.…
By Richard Johnson Posted in #Gear Bullet weight for self defense is one of those topics that gets thrown around a lot in gun shops and online forums. And honestly? It matters. But probably not in the way most people think. Here’s the reality. When considering carrying a 9mm with 115-grain hollow points or 147-grain rounds, the difference on paper looks significant. Lighter bullets go faster. Heavier bullets move more mass. But when you’re talking about a self-defense scenario inside seven yards, which is where most defensive shootings happen, the practical difference gets muddier. Shot placement beats bullet…
Alongside the Reebok Nano, the Nike Metcon line is one of the two most iconic shoes in CrossFit. When they were first released in 2015, the Metcons were considered a wider, more run-friendly shoe than the Nano. However, over the last decade of iterations, the Metcons have skewed toward stability and weightlifting, much to the dismay of many CrossFitters. The Metcon 9 was practically a weightlifting shoe more closely akin to the extremely stiff Romaleos than the freewheeling early Metcon line. While I was a fan of the Metcon 9 (you can read my thoughts on it in our Best…

By Richard Johnson Posted in #Gear I’ve heard many new shooters ask “Is +P ammunition safe?” Yes, +P ammunition is safe to use in modern firearms. The “+P” designation means the round is loaded to higher pressure than standard pressure ammunition — typically 10% more pressure for most pistol calibers. Modern materials used in fireams mean that the gun’s barrel, slide, and frame are sufficiently strong to handle that extra force. Check your firearm’s manual or the barrel markings. If it says “+P” somewhere on the gun or in the documentation, you’re good to go. If the…
