By Jeremy Tremp Posted in #Guns I’ve always been drawn to compact firearms. There’s something about the balance of size, weight, and capability that makes them not only practical, but genuinely enjoyable to train with. They occupy that space between a daily carry pistol and a full-size rifle, that compact yet capable footprint has always excited me. The Springfield Armory SAINT Victor 5.5” PDW in 9mm taps directly into that appeal. I know I sound like a broken record, but Springfield is always releasing and iterating on their products as if they have been making the exact…

He designs top-sheet artwork for a local custom ski maker, paints murals around town, and spends time with his wife and new baby girl. By night (or really just starting in the afternoon), he’s a world-class tattoo artist, co-owner of High Nowhere Tattoo, who is slinging some of the coolest neotraditional ink anywhere in the state.…

GiantMouse is breaking new ground in its catalog with the Redington. While this beefy fixed blade retains the characteristic elan of a GiantMouse design, it is a full on outdoors survival knife. For the majority of its existence, GiantMouse was built on design collaborations between Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes. Early last year, however, Anso parted ways after nearly a decade with the company to pursue other projects. Of course, the Voxnaes and the rest of the GiantMouse team have maintained the company’s brisk release pace, but for this one they tapped into a unique collaborator: the experts at the…

Ski poles haven’t changed in decades. But that is exactly why I was so intrigued by the Yardsale P1 Resort Poles. With their fun color options, a modular design, and a magnetic system built into the handles and baskets, Yardsale is clearly trying to rethink a category that is often overlooked.  I tested the Yardsale P1 ski poles over roughly 9 days of downhill skiing, all at Aspen Snowmass’s four ski areas. It’s been a warm, dry, and not-particularly-snowy winter so far, which meant limited powder testing and a lot of early-season conditions: groomers, hardpack, and thin coverage where pole…

A 3-year-old hunter wounded two people during Wisconsin’s youth turkey hunt on April 12 in Rochester Township, according to an incident synopsis provided to GearJunkie by Lt. Renee Thok of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The shooting happened on state forest land at Honey Creek Wildlife Area in Racine County. According to Thok, a 34-year-old male mentor said he saw what appeared to be a turkey fan and movement in the woods. The mentor then knelt and helped the 3-year-old stand in front of him, aim, and pull the trigger. Instead of hitting a turkey, the 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun…
