Massachusetts already ranks among the most restrictive states when it comes to gun laws, but for some, it’s still not enough. On March 26, gun control activists from Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action gathered in Boston for an Advocacy Day event. They marched from the Cathedral Church of St. Paul to the State House, demanding lawmakers crack down even harder—this time on the firearms industry itself. Among them was Lorna Heron, whose son was murdered by an individual using a firearm not legally owned or possessed in the state. “He was shot 15 times by that semiautomatic weapon,”…

Rosie O’Donnell knows her relationship with convicted killer Lyle Menendez is unexpected — and a little “weird” — but the comedian says, “I consider him one of my closest friends.” O’Donnell, 63, and Lyle, 57, first connected in 1996, after Lyle and his brother Eric were convicted for the murder of their parents. O’Donnell had publicly expressed support for the brothers, who claimed their parents had abused them, and Lyle had written her a letter. O’Donnell remembers telling friend Barbara Walters, with whom she starred on The View at the time, about the letter. “Rosie, he’s a manipulator,” Walters told…
A recent gun “buyback” in Hawaii, which netted more than 300 guns turned in to authorities, had supporters crowing over the results. Unfortunately for them, studies have proven such programs to be completely ineffective at curtailing crime, shootings or anything else. First, the accolades. “I want to thank everyone who turned in an unwanted firearm today, because in doing so, you have helped to make our community that much safer,” Gov. Josh Green said following the event. “Keeping ourselves and each other safe and healthy is a personal choice that also benefits our neighbors. We thank DLE Director Mike Lambert…

Police in Battle Ground, Wash., say they arrested two men in the parking lot of a shopping center last week who allegedly possessed drugs tucked inside individually wrapped cookies. The city made an announcement on social media about the arrests on Sunday, April 13, warning residents to be wary of what it called “Crack Rock-let Chip Cookies” — a play on chocolate chip cookies. The post shared photos of the tinfoil wrapped baked goods that allegedly had small baggies of “cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, concealed within the cookie wrappers.” The post did not identify the suspects.
