Can-Am and MeatEater have unveiled a custom Defender UTV build aimed at hunters and backcountry riders. Built on the Defender MAX HD11 Lone Star, the rig starts with a platform I’ve already tested and came away impressed by, especially its quieter cab, improved comfort, and more polished overall feel.

This is a one-off custom build, not a new Defender trim or production package. Along with the in-your-face MeatEater branding, this collab has added a long list of accessories and custom upgrades through S3 Powersports.

Built on the Defender MAX HD11 Lone Star

The collaboration starts with the Defender MAX HD11 Lone Star. That platform comes with a triple-cylinder Rotax HD11 engine, an enclosed cab, heat and air conditioning, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a leather interior.

In other words, this isn’t a stripped-down work rig. It’s a premium version of Can-Am’s utility platform (and price point), built to handle rough ground while keeping riders a lot more comfortable than the average hunt-camp mule.

While the MeatEater build adds plenty of visual identity, the base platform is still a premium utility machine designed for hauling gear and handling rough terrain.

Hunting-Focused Accessories & Fabrication

Can-Am equipped the build with its LinQ accessory system, giving users a modular way to mount gear and tools. The machine also includes SMART LED light bars, side mirrors, and additional storage.

S3 Powersports handled much of the custom fabrication. That includes MOLLE panels, a rear rack, bumpers, and heavy-duty suspension upgrades. Together, those additions push the Defender further toward hunting camp and backcountry duty.

Tires, Tent, and Camo Wrap

The custom Defender rides on 35-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM3 tires paired with 15-inch KMC Impact Beadlock wheels.

For overnight use, the build adds a GoFastCampers V2 Pro rooftop tent and Rotopax containers for extra fuel and water. The machine is finished in a custom wrap using First Lite’s Cerca Camo.

Where to Check It Out

The MeatEater Defender made its public debut at the Bassmaster Classic in Knoxville, Tenn. Can-Am also plans to display the machine at several upcoming events, including Open Season Sportsman’s Expo stops in Columbus and Wisconsin Dells, the Florida Outdoor Expo in Palm Beach, and Ducks Unlimited Expo in Memphis.
