I recently acquired two AR rifles… a Ruger Harrier, and an HM Defense Stealth MS5 suppressed gun. I needed a way to transport them to my range and to have somewhere to keep them when they were out of the safe. I think I found a great way to do that… a GPS Double Bolt Rifle Case.

This $120 dual case is made for bolt-action, scoped rifles, but it works very well with semi-autos, as I found out. The “bolt” part of the title refers to the fact that it is slightly larger than cases designed for ARs, to accommodate longer rifles with scopes. It comes in two sizes, 42 and 50 inches, and also two colors, black or tan. I got the shorter, black model.

Here’s what GPS has to say about it…

  • Double bolt rifle case
  • Removable shoulder strap
  • Stowable backpack straps
  • Holds 2 scoped rifles
  • Velcro tiedowns for each rifle
  • Padded rifle separator
  • Two large gear pockets with Molle webbing panels
  • Available in 42” and 50”
  • Available in Black and Tan
  • Quick-Access Pull Handles

There are a few reasons that I like this case. They include:

– The fact that the shoulder straps are removable. I do not carry rifles on my back, although some do. This case can go either way.

  • It has room for two full-sized scoped bolt-action rifles. Even though I placed ARs in it and the HM gun has a shorter barrel, there was plenty of room for longer barrels, as the Harrier proved. I would have no trouble carrying my Ruger Scout 308 bolt rifle in it, as well.
  • It has zipper pockets for accessories, magazines, etc.
  • You can opt to either use or not use the four Velcro rifle tie-down straps included.
  • The center panel has ample padding to keep your rifles separated.

The light gray tie-downs are visible here and in the top shot.

There are several slotted loops to hold equipment.

My favorite range bag is made by GPS, and this rifle case is growing on me. They make good-quality items (part of me wants to add “Clark” from “Christmas Vacation”) at reasonable prices. I’ve overloaded and otherwise abused that range bag for a few years, and it’s still as good as new, as is the GPS double-rifle case my son owns.

He was impressed with it even before I started reviewing them. If you are looking for a good way to house or transport a couple of long guns when they’re out of the safe, you might want to check this case out.
