An Alabama woman was wounded after her romantic partner shot her multiple times before turning the gun on himself in an apparent attempted murder-suicide while two children were present in the home.
Police responded to a report that a man and woman had been shot early on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 3, the Rainbow City Police Department said.
The woman had been shot multiple times and was transported to a hospital by helicopter. A man, identified as Eddie Charles Ellis Jr., 46, was found dead inside the apartment from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The woman, whom police did not identify, is currently in stable condition, Rainbow City police said. Ellis and the woman had been in a romantic relationship.

At the time of the shooting, two children under the age of 16 were inside the home but were unharmed, per authorities.
The incident is still under investigation.
