Today host Savannah Guthrie is breaking her silence following the disappearance and possible kidnapping of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Savannah addressed Nancy’s disappearance in an Instagram post on Monday, Feb. 2, thanking her supporters for their prayers. “we believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness,” Savannah wrote in the post’s caption. “we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him.”

She continued, “thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”

Savannah continued her post by quoting the Bible verse Isaiah 26:3. “He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord,” she wrote. “a verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us.”

“Bring her home,” the post’s caption concluded.

The broadcast journalist’s 84-year-old mom, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared on Jan. 31, prompting the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona to launch a search the following day. She was last seen at her home near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue at around 9:30 p.m.

Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed during a Sunday, Feb. 1, press conference that a search-and-rescue mission was underway amid a concerning scene at Nancy’s house after family called 911 around noon that day to report her missing.

Providing an update on Monday, Feb. 2, the sheriff told reporters that investigators now believe a crime occurred, describing the as more of a “crime scene” than a “search mission.” He added that authorities are asking for the public’s help.

“This is an 84-year-old lady who suffers from some physical ailments, has some physical challenges, is in need of medication — medication that, if she doesn’t have in 24 hours, it could be fatal,” he added.

While she has physical limitations, Nanos emphasized that Nancy is of “sound mind” and did not leave her home voluntarily.

Nanos also shared that investigators believe that Nancy was “taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night.”

“Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” Sheriff Nanos added.

The sheriff confirmed that Savannah is in Arizona and said the entire family has been “cooperative” with investigators. He noted that additional agencies, including the FBI, are assisting in the ongoing investigation.

The PCSD describes Nancy as a female with brown hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs around 150 lbs.
