A 19-year-old from Oklahoma has been arrested after being accused of stabbing his brother to death.

The Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) confirmed to PEOPLE that William Spencer, 19, was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 18, and is facing murder charges in connection with the death of his older brother, Nicholas Spencer, 25.

Police said the arrest was made after officers responded to a domestic stabbing call at a residence in Del City just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

“Investigators discovered that two brothers, William and Nicholas Spencer, were playing a video game when William became angry with his brother Nicholas and stabbed him to death,” OCPD said in a release.

William was arrested at the scene, according to police. He was later interviewed and “subsequently booked into jail on a murder complaint.”

OCPD Msgt. Rob Robertson told Fox8 that the person who had made the initial report called “and said they had just stabbed their brother.” He added that “officers got here and found a male with serious stab wounds.”

Nicholas was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Law & Crime reported.

OCPD Master Sgt. Gary Knight described the incident as a “very tragic story,” during a news conference, per Law & Crime.

“Two brothers who were playing video games. One became enraged over the game, got mad at the other and simply stabbed him to death,” he said, per the outlet.

It is unclear what kind of video game the pair had been playing or whether the brothers’ parents or relatives had also been home at the time of the incident.

Knight noted, per Law & Crime, that William “stayed at the scene” and then was “taken into custody, interviewed and then also booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.” Police said that that the 19-year-old admitted to the stabbing, according to the outlet.
