NEED TO KNOW

  • Gheonna Lacy, a pregnant mother of two, was attacked by two people moments after leaving work
  • Lacy was hit multiple times with a metal baseball bat
  • The suspects are believed to be a man and a woman and were seen on camera wearing hoods

A pregnant woman had just left work when she was attacked by two hooded figures — one of whom was wielding a baseball bat.

Gheonna Lacy had just finished a shift as a caretaker at a group home in Racine, Wisc., when she was attacked on the morning of Jan. 15, she told WISN.

Video captured by a Ring camera during the attack was reported by the outlet and shows the two hooded individuals running off-camera while one held a bat, before screaming is then heard.

“They just immediately knocked me to the ground,” Lacy told the outlet. “Started swinging the bat. Stomping me with their feet.”

According to WISN, Lacy is a mother of two. She said she tried to protect her unborn child during the brutal attack.

“She was starting to kill the baby,” Lacy said, per the outlet. “As a pregnant person, you feel like you’re safe. Like no one is going to touch you.”

She further told WISN that she recognized one of her attackers as a woman that she said had been stalking her following a relationship dispute.

Lacy did not recognize the second suspect — a man.

TMJ4 reported that no suspects have been arrested as of Tuesday, Jan. 20.

According to a GoFundMe started by Lacy’s employer, she was hit with a metal baseball bat and suffered “blows to her stomach, face, and entire body.”

“Gheonna is currently hospitalized, where both she and her unborn child are being closely monitored,” the organizer wrote. “This traumatic incident has left her physically injured, emotionally shaken, and unable to work at this time.”

Thus far, the GoFundMe has raised over $3,000.
