NEED TO KNOW

  • A man called 911 to say he’d shot his wife and said he planned to die by suicide
  • Christopher Moon, 43, fatally shot himself after shooting his wife, Cassandra, 23
  • Police attempted to intervene and convince Christopher to turn himself in peacefully before he shot himself

A man killed his wife in Idaho before then turning the gun on himself as police tried to get him to surrender.

Christopher Moon, 43, called 911 to say that he’d shot his wife and identified himself to dispatchers, according to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

Moon then said he had a gun and planned to take his own life.

“As deputies arrived to the area two vehicles were located parked on the side of the road that belonged to Christopher and his wife, 23-year-old Cassandra Moon,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “Deputies established brief contact with Christopher over the phone, attempting to convince him to surrender peacefully. Moments later Christopher was observed using the gun to shoot himself.”
