NEED TO KNOW

  • U.S. Marshals announced on Friday, Jan 16, that they had arrested Keantray Davon Bryant-Muellner, who is alleged to have violated the terms of his graduated re-entry probation sentence
  • Authorities noted that Bryant-Muellner was discovered “attempting to conceal himself while hiding under a child’s bed” inside a residence associated with him
  • A “handgun and high-capacity magazines” was also found at the residence after authorities conducted a search following his arrest

U.S. Marshals arrested a man they described as a “fugitive” who had attempted to evade arrest by hiding under a child’s bed in Spokane, Washington, last week.

Keantray Davon Bryant-Muellner, who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for allegedly violating the terms of his graduated re-entry probation sentence, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 16, the U.S. Marshals said in a press release.

Authorities said that they detained Bryant-Muellner at around 5 p.m. at a residence associated with him near the 3000 block of South Regal Street. They noted that they made “multiple law enforcement announcements” before finally removing a glass sliding door in the residence and entering.

Two adults who had been “uninvolved” exited the home as U.S. marshals searched for Bryant-Muellner. Authorities noted that he was eventually located “attempting to conceal himself while hiding under a child’s bed inside the residence.”

The U.S. Marshals instructed him to “exit,” and he “peacefully surrendered to law enforcement without incident,” they said in the release.

Following his arrest, specialists from the Washington State Department of Corrections’ Community Response Unit did a probation search of the residence and, per the release, recovered a “handgun and high-capacity magazines.” It is unclear whether the items belonged to Bryant-Muellner.

Authorities shared photos of the arrest, including a picture of a member of the U.S. Marshals holding on to Bryant-Muellner’s arm after his arrest. He could be seen in handcuffs outdoors as they waited to transport him. Another picture showed the handgun they recovered from the incident.

Bryant-Muellner was put on probation after an April 2024 arrest in which he faced charges of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, fourth-degree assault, and escape from community custody under the Washington State Department of Corrections, according to the press release.

“With gun violence continuing to plague Spokane, every violent offender arrested and every firearm taken off the street makes our communities safer,” he added.

The U.S. Marshals said the arrest was conducted by their Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Spokane Police Department and the Washington State Department of Corrections.

The U.S. Marshals said anyone with information on their cases is urged to contact the nearest U.S. Marshals office, the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102, or USMS Tips at www.usmarshals.gov/tips.
