An Idaho judge has sent the criminal case against Ryan Lampers to district court, allowing prosecutors to move forward following Lampers’ September arrest and bond release, East Idaho News reported Tuesday.

Lampers is a Montana-based hunting content creator who built a large online following through videos and social media under the name “StHealthy Hunter.”

The ruling came after a preliminary hearing in early Jan. 2026, when the court found sufficient evidence for the charges to proceed in a case tied to alleged wildlife violations during the 2024 hunting season.

Case Background and Arrest

The charges were filed by the Lemhi County Prosecutor’s Office following an investigation by Idaho Fish and Game. A bench warrant was issued in early Sept. 2025, leading to Lampers’ arrest on Sept. 2. He was booked into the Lemhi County Jail and released the following day after posting a $600 bond.

Charges Filed

According to court documents, Lampers faces the following charges:

  • Grand Theft by Deception (felony) related to alleged improper reimbursement for a wolf harvest
  • Unlawful Possession of a Mule Deer Buck (felony) involving a trophy animal
  • Taking Trophy Big Game During a Closed Season (misdemeanor)
  • Hunting Without a Valid Tag (misdemeanor) for a mule deer
  • Hunting Without a Valid Tag (misdemeanor) for a mountain lion
  • Possession or Transportation of Game Taken Unlawfully (misdemeanor)
  • Falsifying Public Records (misdemeanor) related to a mountain lion harvest report
  • Falsifying Public Records (misdemeanor) related to a wolf harvest report

Preliminary Hearing and Bind-Over

At a preliminary hearing held in early Jan. 2026, a magistrate judge determined there was probable cause for the case to advance. The charges were formally bound over to the Idaho district court, allowing prosecutors to continue pursuing the case.

What Comes Next

No future district court hearing dates have been publicly scheduled yet. If convicted, Lampers faces potential penalties under Idaho law, including jail or prison time, fines, restitution, and possible suspension or revocation of hunting, fishing, and trapping privileges.

Lampers has not responded to GearJunkie requests for comment.
