As a reloader, I am always on the lookout for components. I have been blessed as a gun writer with several companies that have, and do, provide pretty much everything I need to write reloading articles and reviews.

It was with great satisfaction that Raven Rocks Precision became one such company recently, when they sent me a quantity of 9mm, and three different boxes of .308 bullets. I was happy to receive them – they came at a great time, and are first-rate.

About The Company

I like the company to speak for itself when I present it in my articles and reviews. So, here is what Raven Rocks Precision says, from their website…

Specializing in premium reloading components and ammunition, Raven Rocks Precision was created to offer the dedicated handloader and hunter, top-quality products that are hard to find and an incredible value.

Founded in 2022 by husband and wife team Bill and Kelly, Raven Rocks Precision began as a hobby but quickly turned into a trusted business. In 2024, we moved the business to Fredericksburg, VA. We are continuing to expand our business to encompass a wider range of products and offerings.

Our top priority is providing consistent and high-quality products with excellent customer service. We are so happy to be serving this community and excited to grow with the support of our valued customers.

They sell, in a nutshell:

  • Loaded ammo: rifle, shotgun, rimfire, and airgun supplies
  • Reloading: cases, bullets, primers, powder, gas checks, equipment
  • Firearms: handguns, rifles, suppressors, magazines

I will let the reader explore the RRP site for specifics. They sell many different calibers of brass and bullets. They also have for sale reloading dies and bullet casting equipment in addition to the other reloading supplies listed above. They support some fairly exotic calibers in cases and bullets, such as the Norma 404 Jeffery, for example.

I will gladly testify as to the quality of their products and service. Here’s what they sent me:

9mm Bullets

These copper-plated, 100-grain FMJ flat-point bullets are great for loading either 9mm practice loads or .380. They are right on in terms of consistent weight and diameter.

We weighed and measured several of them with a micrometer and found very minimal variance in weight and diameter. I was pleasantly surprised to see such consistent results from these inexpensive bullets.

They are perfect for the uses I mentioned above, and are economical at under a nickel each. Below, here they are on parade as they progress through a Frankford Arsenal X-10 progressive press. (Side note: this is one of the finest progressive presses my son or I have ever owned.

We have four progressive presses in addition to single-stage and turret presses from several brands, and this one is the only one with a 10-station tool head/shell plate. There are some engineering features here that just make it easier to use than many others. It even comes with an electric case feeder. Look for a review on this website later.)

…and the finished product:

These 100-grain bullets over a minimum charge of 4.3 grains of TiteGroup should work very well for soft-recoiling practice loads.

Now, for the rifle bullets…

I was sent a box each of the following:

Nosler 168-grain HPBT Competition

Hornady 168-grain HPBT Match

…and one I wasn’t familiar with, an import from Switzerland:

These 167-grain HPBT bullets are made in Thun, Switzerland, by SwissP Defence AG. This is a company that makes bullets and loaded ammo for both the civilian and military markets. These particular bullets are described as designed for maximum terminal effect on soft targets, particularly in close-quarters combat. This was the bullet that, of the three mentioned here, exhibited the best overall accuracy when I loaded it for an article on reloading the .277 Fury and the .308. Look for that very soon on this site.

They make three basic lines of ammunition: sniper, duty, and sport. They custom-tailor the loads for those uses. I did a quick search and found several websites that sell this brand, with Raven Rocks Precision coming in at the top.

Here’s a run-on sentence to help sum things up… If you are in the market for bullets, gas checks, primers, powder, or brass for your .380/9mm/.40/10mm/.45/other-caliber-revolver, or need bullets for your centerfire .223-and-up caliber rifle, or loaded ammo, or reloading equipment, or even guns, you might want to check the RRP site out.

I was pleasantly surprised to see everything they sell, and according to the owner, they’re not done yet. Look for even more products in the future. It’s nice to see more companies selling reloading components and other equipment… these folks are serious about it!
