WXIX, WLWT and the Cincinnati Enquirer reported, citing police, that the charge stems from the killing of LaKeisha Malone, 36, who was found fatally beaten in a residence on Hewitt Avenue. Authorities accused Redmond of beating Malone to death, possibly as she slept — while her children were also in the home, per the outlets.

The Enquirer reported, citing court records, that the killing happened in Redmond’s home.

Malone was the mother of Redmond’s child, WXIX reported, also citing court records.

Redmond was arraigned on Dec. 31 and entered a plea of not guilty, per the Enquirer.

Court records indicate that his next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 9.

Hamilton County Assistant Prosecutor David Hickenlooper told the court during Redmond’s arraignment that the detective who responded to the scene described it as “one of the bloodiest scenes that he has been in,” the Enquirer reported.

A GoFundMe started to benefit Malone’s children described her as the mother of “two beautiful children.”
