A Texas man was shot and killed at a Christmas party after a noise complaint turned into a deadly dispute.
The incident occurred before 6 a.m. on Dec. 21 at a home in San Antonio, according to reports from KSAT, WOAI and KENS.
The outlets reported that police said Paul Flores, 40, went to the home of a neighbor to complain about noise.
Flores got into an argument with Edward Trejo, 29, in the front yard of the home that escalated before he allegedly shot the victim, police claim, according to the outlets.
Police said Trejo was shot multiple times, including in the neck, and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to KSAT.
Flores was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the outlets, which cited jail records.
It is not immediately clear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
WOAI reported that the gathering had been a Christmas party.
KSAT and KENS reported that in the aftermath of Trejo’s death, hundreds of his family and friends gathered to honor him at a balloon release.
“He had a big heart, you know,” his friend Vanessa Fernandez told KSAT. “He loved everybody.”
Trejo’s family members also spoke about his legacy.

A GoFundMe to benefit Trejo’s family has so far raised nearly $30,000.
“Our hearts are shattered as we mourn the sudden and tragic loss of our beloved Edward. Edward’s laughter, kindness, and love touched everyone who knew him, and his absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled,” the organizer wrote.
