According to prosecutors’ claims, Sherrone Moore made “intimidating, terrifying” statements after allegedly breaking into a woman’s apartment.
Moore, the former head football coach at the University of Michigan, was fired on Wednesday, Dec. 10, after the school said it had evidence he had engaged in “an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
The same day he was fired, Moore was arrested and has since been charged with third-degree home invasion, a felony, as well as two misdemeanors, including stalking.
Prosecutors argued Moore “allegedly unlawfully entered the dwelling of a victim with whom Mr. Moore had a dating relationship.”
At Moore’s arraignment Friday, assistant prosecuting attorney Kati Rezmierski said that the ex-coach and the woman had been in a relationship for a number of years before she broke up with him on Monday, Dec. 8.
Following the break-up, Rezmierski said Moore sent unwanted messages to the woman and that she eventually notified school officials about their relationship, ultimately leading to the coach’s firing.
Moore then allegedly drove to the woman’s apartment and entered before authorities claimed he grabbed butter knives and kitchen scissors, threatening self-harm, according to Rezmierski.
According Rezmierski, Moore allegedly said: “I’m gonna kill myself, I’m gonna make you watch.” Rezmierski also claims Moore told her: “My blood is on your hands. You ruined my life.”

Rezmierski told the judge that Moore made “threatening, intimidating, terrifying, quite frankly, statements and behaviors.”
Moore allegedly left the apartment after the woman said she would call police, according to Rezmierski.

PEOPLE previously obtained 911 dispatch audio, during which the dispatcher said a subject called claiming that a “male was at the location in the house attacking her” and alleged the male had “been stalking her for months.”
The call occurred shortly before Moore’s arrest and was at the Pittsfield Township, Mich., address of the reported incident police said was connected to the coach’s arrest.
