Los Angeles Chargers coach and former University of Michigan Wolverines football coach and Jim Harbaugh shared his reaction to Sherrone Moore’s firing and criminal charges.

Harbaugh, 61, hired Moore, 39, as the Wolverines’ tight ends coach in 2018. Moore served as acting head during the 2023 season when Harbaugh was suspended. In 2024, Harbaugh left Michigan after nine seasons to coach the NFL’s San Diego Chargers, and Moore took over as head football coach.

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, Moore was fired after the school said it had evidence he had engaged in alleged “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.” Hours later, he was detained by police.

On Friday, Dec. 12, he was formally charged with third-degree home invasion, a felony, as well as two misdemeanors, including stalking.

“Still processing that like a lot of people, I’m sure,” Harbaugh told reporters when asked about the news after Chargers practice, reports ESPN.

Moore made his first court appearance at his arraignment on Friday. Prosecutor Kati Rezmierski accused Moore of stalking and allegedly threatening to take his own life after he was fired.

Rezmierski claimed that the staffer Moore was having a relationship with broke up with him on Monday, Dec. 8, after they were together for several years. Following the breakup, Moore allegedly sent unwanted messages to the woman, prompting her to notify school officials about their relationship, which led to the coach’s firing, Rezmierski said.

Dispatch sent out a notice about an individual with the same car and license plate number as Moore. Then, around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, he was booked into custody at the Washtenaw Corrections Division.
