Rebecca Park’s mother and stepfather have been charged in connection with her death.

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Michigan Department of Attorney General announced that Cortney Bartholomew, 40, and Bradly Bartholomew, 47, had been arraigned before Judge Corey Wiggins in the 84th District Court in Cadillac in connection with Park’s murder.

Both were charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of felony murder, one count of torture, one count of conspiracy to commit torture, one count of assault on a pregnant individual causing miscarriage/stillbirth, and one count of conspiracy to commit assault on a pregnant individual causing miscarriage/stillbirth.

Each charge carries a potential life sentence.

Cortney and Bradley were also each charged with one count of unlawful imprisonment, a 15-year-offense felony, and one count of removal of a dead body, a 1-year misdemeanor, per the statement.

Their arraignment comes after a spokesperson for Michigan State Police told PEOPLE on Tuesday, Nov. 25, that a body matching 22-year-old Park’s description was found in the Manistee National Forest.

Park was last seen in the Cadillac and Boon Township area at 11:30 p.m. local time on Monday, Nov. 3. Her fiancé Richard Falor told 9&10 News that she got into the passenger seat of a dark colored vehicle at her mother’s house.

According to the Michigan Department of Attorney General’s press release, it is alleged that on Nov. 3, Park’s mother and stepfather lured her to their Wexford County home.

Park was 38 weeks pregnant at the time, and her mother and stepfather, “allegedly tortured Park in an attempt to remove the unborn infant, resulting in the death of both,” the Attorney General’s office said.

Wexford County Sheriff Trent Taylor previously said in a statement that Park’s autopsy revealed that she was no longer pregnant, causing multiple agencies to continue to work “diligently to determine the condition and potential whereabouts of the baby.”
