A pregnant Las Vegas woman’s “devastated” family is mourning her death — after she was one of two people killed when her 19-year-old boyfriend allegedly drove more than 100 mph into a row of stopped cars.
The deadly crash took place in the middle of the afternoon on Nov. 18, and killed Adilene Duran, 20, and 38-year-old Edward Garcia, who was driving another vehicle.
It occurred when a silver 2011 Infiniti G37, allegedly driven by Duran’s boyfriend, Jose Gutierrez, 19, barreled into a row of stopped vehicles at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard in the northwest valley of the city, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police announced earlier this month.
Gutierrez was allegedly “traveling at a high rate of speed [and] failed to slow for stopped traffic at a red light” before slamming into 11 other vehicles, police said in a statement on Nov. 20, announcing that the suspect had criminal charges against him upgraded in the days since the crash took place.
Clark County Jail records reviewed by PEOPLE show Gutierrez now faces two counts of open murder, one count of attempted murder, and another count of battery with the use of a deadly weapon. He remains in custody without bond, records show. Gutierrez is due back in court on Jan. 6, 2026, according to local KTNV.
Citing an LVMPD incident report, KTNV and the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that witnesses told police Gutierrez was speeding more than 100 mph when the car he was driving slammed into the back of another vehicle, sending it spinning into a fiery blaze while both crashed into 10 other vehicles.
The Infiniti G37 that Gutierrez was driving was registered to Duran’s mother, according to KTNV.
A recent GoFundMe post set up to aid Duran’s family with medical and funeral expenses indicated she was pregnant and described her as having been “involved in a terrible car accident” and “unfortunately lost her life in a terrible way.”

“Please pray for her to be in peace,” the fundraiser said. “Her family is devastated.”
Garcia, who was driving another vehicle, also died in the fiery multi-vehicle crash, according to KTNV, the Review-Journal, and local KLAS. The outlets reported that two others were critically injured in the crash.
Duran was “completely ejected” from the vehicle as a result of the crash, according to the Review-Journal, citing a police incident report. Gutierrez sustained “serious injuries,” according to police, the newspaper reported.

Las Vegas police said in the Nov. 20 statement that Gutierrez was initially charged with “four counts of reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm” before investigators upgraded the charges days after the crash.
“The fact that the group of cars was stopped at the intersection, the light was red and clearly visible to other drivers, and the Infiniti still failed to decrease its speed as it approached is an indicator that Gutierrez was possibly impaired,” the LVMPD report said, according to the Review-Journal.
